Derby Cover Gasket Use O-ring type derby cover gasket or our "Special Gasket" when installing VP clutch or cut inside derby cover gasket of Harley-Davidson made (part#25416-99C), because weight of VP clutch will be hit to derby cover gasket. (See picture) O-ring type derby cover gasket can not be use for Late 05' Touring model and 06' to later all model, because they do not have groove on the primary cover for O-ring type derby cover gasket.
May need to grind Primary cover on 1990 to 1993 FXR and FLT when installing VP-Clutch. Primary cover on 1990 to 1993 FXR and FLT are different from other years or other model. There are not enough clearance between VP Clutch and Primary cover.
Points to noten installin wheg VP-Sport on 1991-93 XL models As there is little clearance between the VP clutch and the primary case it is not possible to install VP-005-150A, 190A, 240A on the early 1991-93 XL models with a standard primary cover. When purchasing please make careful note of your bike's year model.
Clutch Spring
There are many combinations of VP Clutch and Clutch spring for various motors. The VP Clutch can be more detail turning for your motor. (Go to Master Chart and Torque Chart)
Derby Cover Application
Non stock derby (including ’03 Anniversary cover) cover will require a Derby cover spacer due to a clearance issue. This list shows what thickness of the spacer is needed on the HD genuine accessory covers. Most of other after market cover dose not have any recess on
the back of the cover so they requires 1/2” thick spacer.
